About The Position

Nazareth Hospital, part of Trinity Health Mid-Atlantic, is looking for a pool Transporter to join our Central Transport Team. The purpose of this role is to transport patients and equipment safely throughout the Nazareth Hospital campus.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
CPR (BLS) certified.
Ability to walk without assistance
Ability to lift patients
Ability to work with people effectively
Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Responsibilities

Follow 2 patient ID policies remembering to never remove patient from floor without ID wrist band
Demonstrates ability to recognize and communicate nurse, physician and/or technologist a change in patient’s condition
Demonstrate good judgment in selecting proper mode of communication when interacting with various populations served (pediatric, adult, geriatric, etc.); introducing self to patient and telling them where they are going
Assist in providing patient/comfort, privacy and confidentiality
Demonstrate good judgment in selecting proper mode of “transportation”. Position patients properly taking into account patient impairment, skin conditions, pain, size, age, etc.
Able to perform CPR and emergency measures
Follow any patient safety alerts, especially fall precautions
Apply brakes on wheelchair and stretchers whenever assisting a transfer or leaving patient
Never leave patient alone on stretcher with side rails down.
Move wheelchair footrests and legs away before patient stands
Properly complete a hand off communication with every transport (“ticket to ride”/passport), including alerting receiving staff of patient’s arrival
Obtain assistance when needed
