About The Position

The Transportation Worker's main responsibility is to safely transport TRC children and staff. This employee is expected to work with maintenance and custodians whenever there are no transportation tasks to be done. The transportation worker is responsible for checking all cars, coordinating any inspections or car repairs. The Transportation Worker works closely with the Supervisor of Maintenance & Transportation and the TFC Program Director to coordinate all driving duties. A flexible schedule is needed to meet the needs of the program.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year’s driving experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Must be able to use a computer and learn software programs.
  • Must be able to operate a fax, copier, scan, and other office equipment.
  • Needs to be able to speak, read and write fluently in the English language.
  • Must be able to write in the English language using correct spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Transport children to scheduled appointments, or to airports or to recreational/religious activities.
  • Pick up new intakes from the airport.
  • Fly out with children to meet sponsors as designated.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the sedans, mini vans, and 12 passenger vans and note any damage and ensure all vehicles are safe and emergency kits are in all vehicles.
  • Assure all cars are filled with gas daily.
  • Take cars to car wash daily or as needed and schedule deep cleaning/detailing at least once per month.
  • Review transportation logs daily and note any disruptions or incorrect information.
  • Drive the TFC children at the end of the school day back to Bronx, NY.
  • Before departing, employees must contact the Asst. Director or Director to inform them that vehicle is in-route back to the Bronx.
  • Employees must do a head count and complete roll call.
  • Assure all children have seat belts on and if necessary, have their booster seats/car seats.
  • Upon arrival, employees must debrief an administrator of any concerns regarding the children during school or during drive.
  • Complete Maintenance & Custodial Duties whenever there is no transport needed as guided and requested by the Supervisor of Maintenance & Transportation.
  • Complete all mandated ORR & Abbott House training on a timely basis.
  • Any other related duties as required.
