About The Position

The Transportation Training and Development Specialist in this position reports to the Human Resources Division in Kanawha County. The selected applicant performs full-performance level work in developing and presenting training courses and programs, both online and in a classroom setting. Position will be assigned in one of the following functional areas: Employee Development, Equipment or Mechanic Training. Work includes researching and developing training courses, curriculum and participant manuals, reviewing source materials, conducting training, and evaluating training impact. Consults with management on training and employee development needs and develops curriculum to meet management goals. Researches and develops unique concepts and theories and applies to training courses. May provide input in policies, procedures, and workflow processes to improve efficiency. Travel is required for this position; therefore a valid drivers license is required. Performs other related duties as required. Pay Grade: 14

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid employment in a training and development field, such as adult learning, education, instructional technology, communications, human resources development, or related field.
  • Valid driver's license.

  • Graduate coursework from a regionally accredited college or university in education, instructional technology, communications, Human Resources development, industrial relations, or related fields may substitute for the required experience through an established formula.

Responsibilities

  • Applies adult learning principles and training techniques to design and conduct, competency-based trainings.
  • Evaluates the design and content of training to ensure the integration of competency-based learning into the entire training curriculum.
  • Develops guidelines, instructional methods, training aids, course materials, illustrative materials, training manuals, online learning modules, technical materials, job aids, and improved applications of educational technology to support training effectiveness.
  • Develops workshop examinations in accordance with testing theory and administers examinations.
  • Applies organizational development theory, tools, and techniques to design, develop, recommend, and facilitate intervention strategies for leading transformational change, solving business problems, and improving organizational and individual employee performance.
  • Collects organization development and training data using analysis tools and methodologies to evaluate impact and effectiveness.
  • Research and apply evolving trends, developments, and applications in employee development, including e- learning.
  • Provides consulting and instructional content development services, webinars, e-learning modules, blended synchronous and asynchronous courseware, self-paced learning, to all levels of management training needs, which includes collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs).
  • Coordinates scheduling and delivery of training(s) and facilitated sessions at site locations.
  • Travel is required for this position; therefore a valid drivers license is required.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
