DESCRIPTION OF WORK This role focuses on assisting with construction inspection services and project documentation to support safe, high-quality work. You will observe operations, record project activities, and help verify contractor compliance. As a Transportation Technician, you will perform the following duties: Construction Inspection: Assist with inspecting routine phases of highway construction including grades, elevations, and work zone controls Project Documentation: Review work unit records and materials used to ensure accuracy and conformance with policies Field Observation: Observe construction operations and enforce contract requirements to maintain quality standards Technical Review: Read and research plans, drawings, contracts, specifications, and manuals related to construction projects Material Testing: Support testing of materials and interpret specifications for sampling and inspection methods Record Maintenance: Prepare and update inspection reports, sketches, field notes, and project documentation including electronic applications

Requirements

  • One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work
  • One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions
