DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position plays a key role in supporting construction documentation, field reviews, and project accuracy for transportation projects. The work helps ensure that construction activities meet Department standards and that records are complete and reliable. As a Transportation Technician, you will perform the following duties: Documentation Review: Check project records and materials reports for accuracy and compliance with Department policies Project Support: Assist in maintaining construction project documentation using ECMS, PPCC, and mobile applications Cost Verification: Review calculations and quantities to confirm that submitted costs and payments are correct Field Inspection: Observe construction activities and traffic control setups to ensure they follow plans and specifications Material Testing: Assist with sampling and reviewing materials and collect required certifications for project use

Requirements

  • One year of experience in highway or bridge surveying, design, construction, or inspection work
  • One year of experience in quality control of materials or building or construction industry experience, which includes reading and interpreting blueprints, plans, or schematics
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Meet the PA residency requirement
  • Be able to perform essential job functions

Benefits

  • Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $40,685.00 (before taxes).
