About The Position

At Serta Simmons Bedding (SSB), we're looking for a Transportation Supervisor to lead our daily fleet operations, ensure DOT compliance, and drive safe, efficient, and on-time deliveries. This role is for a hands-on leader who thrives in operational environments and problem-solving on the go.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma and 10+ years' experience in transportation related field with 5+ years minimum experience in fleet management, with direct driver supervision.
  • Working knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations.
  • Familiarity with Federal, State and local health and safety regulations.
  • Experience working with data driven measurements and metrics for functional areas.
  • Some experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point).
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in transportation or supply chain related field.
  • Lean training / certification.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with company safety policies and DOT regulations
  • Partner with Corporate Logistics and Plant Transportation Manager to report, investigate, and resolve driver accidents and injuries
  • Support delivery, cost, and service objectives through effective coordination and planning
  • Manage fleet operations to ensure cost efficiency, including labor utilization, overtime control, and equipment usage
  • Ensure full DOT compliance, including driver logs, performance monitoring, accident reporting, and equipment maintenance
  • Oversee use of systems such as ELD (Omnitracs) and EPOD for accurate logging and delivery tracking
  • Manage daily dispatch, fleet deliveries, and return pickups
  • Address driver and customer concerns, including delivery delays and service issues
  • Prepare and review daily, weekly, and ad hoc reports (mileage, fuel tax, payroll accuracy)
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operations
  • Build positive relationships with drivers and proactively address concerns
  • Stay current on industry trends, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
