Requirements

  • High school graduate; Bachelors or 5 years supervisory experience in trucking as equivalent preferred
  • 3 plus years experience of progressive trucking experience / grocery retail preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA & DOT safety regulations, sanitation, and food safety - Management Level
  • Strong technical skills and experience with TMS fleet routing optimization software (Prospero, One Network & CAMS preferred) as well as fleet on-board computer systems (XATA preferred).
  • Experience using warehouse management system to interact with TMS
  • Excellent math skills
  • Enthusiastic and willing to learn new programs and procedures
  • Ability to make decisions quickly and cost effectively
  • Possess strong resolution skills and have the ability to take decisive action
  • Excellent written and oral interpersonal/communication skills
  • Proven leadership ability to encompass a minimum 3+ years experience managing 30+ reports
  • Able to chart, forecast, plan, manage, and measure day-to-day operations
  • Able to effectively interact with multiple levels within the distribution center and within the company
  • Exhibits initiative and a high energy for innovation, exemplary customer service skills, and resourcefulness
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite to include high level of Excel proficiency

Responsibilities

  • Commitment to providing and maintaining a safe work environment
  • Lead, coach, and supervise transportation personnel to attain specific goals and measurable results
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Train and develop dispatchers and drivers, identifying and mentoring high potential candidates
  • Successful interaction between other departments within the distribution center and retail
  • Maintain positive associate relations
  • Provide superior service to our customers
  • Determine equipment and manpower requirements for daily operational needs
  • Maintain capital assets in an as-designed condition in a cost-effective manner
  • Implement new and monitor existing initiatives to reduce cost
  • Supervise and dispatch drivers
  • Work with drivers to maintain safe and courteous driving skills / facilitate meetings and development workshops
  • Ensure accuracy within transportation operations
  • Ensure compliance with all OSHA, DOT, Sanitation and Food Safety regulations
  • Maintain accurate and complete documentation of transportation operations and personnel
