About The Position

The Transportation Supervisor is primarily responsible for planning outbound deliveries, inbound load scheduling to the RDC, coordinating intercompany shipments, and supervising the activities and managing performance of Transportation Associates located in the Transportation Center. In addition, the Transportation Supervisor works with stores to resolve daily delivery and load quality issues, coordinates with carriers to meet service expectations, monitors the LTL program, coordinates yard movements and trailer pools, and verifies freight move data integrity to ensure invoice accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree Supply Chain Management, Transportation, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field or equivalent years of experience in lieu of education requirement, if applicable
  • 4 years of experience in Supply Chain, Transportation, or Logistics

Responsibilities

  • Ensures associates understand and execute safe practices
  • Conducts startup meetings and Stop Observations
  • Assists associates with HR related issues including questions/concerns with attendance, pay, benefits, job changes, voluntary terminations, I-9 verification, unemployment claims, and workplace accommodations
  • Communicates clear expectations for associates and provides timely and constructive feedback
  • Monitors and manages associate performance, ensuring that associates are executing assigned tasks accurately and as scheduled
  • Mentors and builds relationships with associates, recording planned encounters when needed, and completing annual reviews
  • Holds associates in department accountable to expected behaviors and performance level
  • Manages Live-Unload schedules
  • Coordinates as needed with import group around requirements for Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT)
  • Coordinates as needed with Distribution Center Operations and Support Teams
  • Monitors Less-than-Load (LTL) Consolidation and Inbound load quality issues
  • Conducts yard management audits
  • Conducts prebill audits to resolves carrier and or vendor invoicing issues
  • Completes miscellaneous freight expense (MFC) processing for carriers
  • Audits Transportation email boxes (Traffic & MFC)
  • Updates transportation metrics as needed (Red Prairie, OTS, Backhauls, Misc.)
  • Maintains store delivery schedules per current programs
  • Serves as subject matter expert for the stores and resolves transportation issues
  • Monitors trailer pools and discusses daily strategy with carriers, planning, and operations
  • Ensures yard checks, gate passes, Haz Mat and BOL paperwork are handled appropriately and accurately
  • Administrates destroy in field product (DIF), inter-company buybacks (ICB), and recycle returns and ensures these are correctly paired with outbound loads
  • Coordinates inter-company buybacks (ICB) requests from stores
  • Coordinates DC to DC transfers, DC to Non-serviced store, and EME loads (i.e., emergency product sent from vendors and DC’s to support storm response)
  • Keeps current of Department of Transportation (DOT), state, and local transportation regulations
  • Communicates effectively with associates regarding business objectives or current issues
  • Provides associates with meaningful developmental opportunities and prepares them for upward promotion if interested
  • Discusses and resolves issues with and between associates
  • Participates in the hiring process by initiating job requisitions when appropriate and interviewing prospective candidates
  • Ensures associates receive proper training
