About The Position

The Transportation Supervisor will have knowledge of supply chain management and an understanding of warehouse procedures, including storing perishable and non-perishable goods, dispatching orders and tracking transportation vehicles. He/she must be familiar with safety processes and all DOT legal regulations, ensuring that all shipments are handled quickly, safely and within budget.

Requirements

Minimum of 2 years experience driving a 26-foot box truck
At least 2 years of supervisory experience
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Good management skills, including the ability to lead and motivate others, delegate work and explain ideas
Excellent planning and organizing skills
The ability to work as part of a team
The ability to inspire, motivate and lead a team of people
Working knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications
Problem-solving skills and the ability to work on a tactical and strategic level
The ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
DOT Medical Card (Required)
Driver's License (Required)
Ability to Commute: Sterling, VA 20166 (Required)

Responsibilities

Plan and supervise the shipments to the customer
Schedule daily and weekly routes, drivers, and trucks (the supervisor will be responsible for 2 or 3 routes per week)
Report maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment
Research and suggest cost-effective shipping methods
Conduct regular safety audits on equipment
Organize training sessions for drivers as required by DOT and OSHA regulations
Keep organized records of vehicles, schedules and completed orders
Ensure compliance with company policies and shipping legislation
Stay up-to-date with safety regulations
Work with internal sales and purchasing team members
