Transportation Specialist - Full or Part Time

About The Position

Freedom Transit, LLC is seeking safe, friendly, positive, and dependable drivers with compassion and patience to transport clients to and from various appointments, including hospitals, doctor's offices, skilled nursing facilities, dialysis, and physical therapy. The company provides ambulatory, wheelchair, and stretcher transportation for local hospitals and facilities. This position can be either part-time (typically 24-30 hours per week) or full-time. Candidates should be available for afternoons/early evenings and weekends. Some out-of-town transportation may be required, but no overnight stays. Knowledge of the Kansas City metro area is a plus but not required. Non-Emergency Medical Transportation experience is preferred but not necessary, as training will be provided. Availability most days from 11 am - 7 pm and some weekends is ideal. Stretcher transportation positions are also available.

Requirements

  • Valid State Driver's License
  • At least 5 years verifiable driving experience
  • Able to pass a 3-year Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and background check
  • CPR/AED Certification
  • Own a smart phone
  • Not have a physical impairment preventing the candidate from driving safely, or from performing the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Able to read, write, and converse in English
  • Able to use a GPS/Technology System, read and understand road maps
  • Able to lift and/or pull up to 50 pounds and the capability to assist passengers into and out of the vehicle; including pushing a loaded wheelchair/stretcher into or out of the vehicle or up a few steps into a home
  • Able to climb in and out of the vehicle
  • Able to bend and reach to properly secure wheelchairs or stretchers inside the vehicle
  • Able to sit for long periods of time depending on duration of transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus
  • Driving knowledge of the Kansas City metro area is a plus
  • Non-Emergency Medical Transportation experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Drive vehicles in a safe manner
  • Provide reliable, courteous and respectful client service
  • Report to pickups at the required pickup time and location to ensure clients' timely arrival for appointments
  • Follow the daily schedule provided
  • Complete proper documentation of trip details using technology or paper as directed by management
  • Report any defects, mechanical problems, or missing items
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding client information
  • Other duties as assigned
