About The Position

The Transportation Specialist, in collaboration with and in support of the firm’s strategic initiatives, supports the Transportation Practice Group by conducting gap analyses, developing client-facing materials, and performing regulatory research to support business development and client service. This role will also perform such work and perform such other duties as may be requested by members of the Transportation Practice Group.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Political Science, Business, Law, or related discipline. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.
  • 1 year of working in a legislative environment and/or office environment.
  • Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with clients, lawyers, business professionals, and third parties.
  • Produce deliverables, answer phone calls, and reply to correspondence in an efficient and responsive manner.
  • Provide timely, accurate, and quality work product.
  • Successfully meet deadlines, expectations, and perform work duties as required.
  • Foster positive work relationships.
  • Comply with all firm policies and practices.
  • Engage in both physical and sedentary activity, such as (a) working at a computer for extended periods of time, including on-screen reading and typing; (b) participating in digital/virtual conference calls; (c) participating in meetings as needed.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Perform all other duties, tasks or projects as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts regulatory and legal research on transportation issues across aviation, rail, maritime, and related technology, including certification, operations, and policy matters at the federal, state, and international levels.
  • Attends hearings, briefings, and meetings and reports on these both verbally and in written communications.
  • Researches, drafts, and edits written materials for partners, of counsel, associates, and clients (e.g., policy analysis and legislative/regulatory updates), including tracking and analyzing congressional and Executive action (bills, regulations, speeches, etc.).
  • Assists attorneys in cultivating relationships with clients and key client stakeholders, industry, and agency personnel.
  • Organizes large caseloads to ensure timely execution of tasks by attorneys.
  • Arranges and coordinates meetings with Transportation Agency leadership and staff for attorneys and clients.
  • Assists with preparation of practice-related materials.
  • Prepares materials (letters, documents) as requested by attorneys.
  • Conducts gap analyses and prepares client-facing materials.
  • Creates presentations for business development, marketing, and sales efforts.
  • Researches transportation regulatory issues and supports billable client work.
  • Other duties as assigned.
