About The Position

AmeriCorps Transportation Specialist
The AmeriCorps Transportation Specialist is a hands-on service position for individuals who want to make a real difference in the daily lives of young people. You will drive a variety of school vehicles, getting SailFuture students to and from school safely and on time. This position is ideal for someone who is reliable, patient, and detail-oriented, who enjoys working with teenagers, and who wants to serve a purpose greater than themselves.

Requirements

• Must hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and adhere to strict schedules.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact positively with students and staff.
• Meticulous in ensuring all safety protocols and student requirements are met.
• Willingness to adapt to changing schedules or requirements as needed.
• Must be able to pass a background check in accordance with school policies.

Nice To Haves

• CDL endorsement or willingness to obtain one is preferred.
• Prior experience working with teenagers is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Driving a school bus to pick-up and drop-off of students each day
• Ensure students are in proper uniform and have all necessary materials before departure.
• Maintain a safe and orderly environment during transport, adhering to all traffic laws and school policies.
• Perform regular vehicle inspections to ensure safety and cleanliness.
• Report any concerns, incidents, or issues to appropriate school staff promptly.
• Establish positive relationships with students to foster a supportive and respectful environment.
