About The Position

The Transportation Specialist will serve as the primary point of contact for retail stores regarding transportation inquiries and challenges. This role involves investigating, resolving, and performing root-cause analysis on daily store feedback related to parcel delivery, carrier pickups, and general logistics across all four fascias. The specialist will also manage parcel freight claims, administer parcel carrier accounts, execute daily clerical tasks for freight auditing and payment processing, and act as the primary backup to the Transportation Supervisor. Additionally, the role involves monitoring inbound shipments for vendor compliance, cross-training in departmental functions, and adhering to internal control procedures to protect company assets.

Requirements

  • Associate’s or Technical degree required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 1–3 years of related experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain coordination.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Excel skills highly preferred, including VLOOKUPs and pivot tables).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Previous experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Transportation Management Systems (TMS), and carrier portals is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for retail stores regarding transportation inquiries and challenges.
  • Investigate, resolve, and perform root-cause analysis on daily store feedback related to parcel delivery, carrier pickups, and general logistics across all four fascias.
  • File, track, analyze, and report on trends related to parcel freight claims to minimize financial loss and improve carrier accountability.
  • Manage parcel carrier administrative tasks, including account setup, maintaining visibility within parcel administration platforms, and managing user access across carrier websites and specialized tracking tools (e.g., PCS Trac).
  • Execute daily clerical tasks related to freight auditing and payment processing. Audit carrier invoices for accuracy against contracted rates, identify and investigate pricing discrepancies, log data into freight payment systems, and assist with GL coding to ensure timely submission of logistics expenses to Finance.
  • Serve as the primary backup to the Transportation Supervisor, handling escalated issues and critical operational decisions in their absence.
  • Monitor inbound shipments to identify and document vendor routing guide violations. Gather necessary evidence (e.g., carrier delays, incorrect routing) and collaborate with the internal Vendor Compliance team to issue chargebacks or compliance penalties.
  • Cross-train in all transportation departmental functions and locations to provide flexible coverage; participate in continuous improvement initiatives and perform additional duties as assigned.
  • Protect company assets and financial integrity by adhering to internal control procedures, ensuring data accuracy, and proactively reporting potential fraud risks to management.
