About The Position

Solventum is seeking a Transportation Specialist to provide functional expertise, project leadership, and oversight of transportation operations across the United States and Canada. The role coordinates with internal and external clients and logistics service providers, with a focus on ocean and air freight originating in the Americas. The position may be hybrid, with travel to the Eagan, Minnesota location when required, or remote within the United States. Travel may include up to 10% domestic or international travel; relocation assistance may be authorized. The specialist manages operational performance, resolves service disruptions, and provides data-driven recommendations in support of transportation strategies and business needs. The role also leads continuous improvement projects and serves as a subject matter expert for ocean and air freight, sharing guidance and updates with regional and global stakeholders.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or higher, completed and verified before start, and at least seven years of experience in transportation, logistics, and/or import/export; alternatively, a high school diploma or GED, completed and verified before start, and at least eleven years of experience in transportation, logistics, and/or import/export.
Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status.

Nice To Haves

Advanced degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related discipline, completed and verified before start.
Experience using ERP systems and/or transportation management systems, including SAP.
Experience supporting air and ocean freight forwarding operations.
Experience analyzing transportation or logistics data to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
Experience independently analyzing and resolving complex transportation, logistics, and/or import/export issues.
Experience communicating complex transportation or logistics information to stakeholders across functions and organizational levels.

Responsibilities

Manage day-to-day ocean and air freight operations originating in the Americas, including shipment planning, booking, export coordination, shipment visibility, and delivery performance.
Monitor freight forwarder performance using operating standards, KPIs, and corrective action plans to meet service, cost, capacity, and compliance objectives.
Resolve transportation disruptions, capacity constraints, shipment delays, and service escalations by coordinating recovery plans and alternative routing while balancing service, cost, compliance, and supply continuity.
Provide operational expertise and data-driven recommendations for transportation strategies, budgets, capacity planning, sourcing initiatives, network optimization, and cost-saving opportunities.
Partner with procurement, manufacturing, distribution, regional operations, Trade Compliance, Quality, and Regulatory teams to align transportation services and routing strategies with business and compliance requirements.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives and transportation projects focused on service performance, shipment visibility, process standardization, cost reduction, and logistics system enhancements.
Manage project scope, priorities, timelines, resources, budgets, and milestones.
Serve as the ocean and air freight subject matter expert, providing guidance and best practices.
Communicate transportation performance, capacity risks, shipment exceptions, market conditions, and project updates to regional and global stakeholders.
Comply with corporate policies, procedures, and security standards while performing assigned duties.
