About The Position

GHD is seeking an experienced Transportation Roadway Engineer / Project Delivery Lead to build and lead our growing roadway practice in Georgia. This leader will guide roadway projects from scoping and concept development through final design, letting, and construction support; direct multidisciplinary teams; and manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, resources, subconsultants, and agency coordination. The role also includes mentoring staff, performing technical reviews, maintaining strong client relationships, presenting to clients and stakeholders, and supporting business development through opportunity identification, capture strategy, proposals, interviews, and delivery of repeat work. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in Client & Customer Management (External), Community of Practice Management, Contract Management, Engineering Solutions Design, Engineering Standards Specification, Health, Safety, and Environment, Improvement/Innovation, Personal Capability Building, Project Management, and Request for Bid Solicitation/Proposal/Tender Response.

Requirements

• 5 to 10 years of transportation engineering experience.
• Leadership on GDOT or municipal projects.
• Current Georgia Professional Engineer license.
• GDOT PDP certification.
• GDOT LAP certification.
• GSWCC Level II certification.
• Bentley OpenRoads Designer expertise.
• Knowledge of GDOT standards and workflows.
• Expertise in roadway and intersection design—including roundabouts.
• Knowledge of applicable AASHTO, FHWA, MUTCD, PROWAG/ADA, and local agency requirements.
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or related degree.
• Minimum 5 years transportation engineering experience.
• GA Professional Engineering License required.
• PDP and LAP certifications.
• GSWCC Level II certification.

Responsibilities

• Guide roadway projects from scoping and concept development through final design, letting, and construction support.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams.
• Manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, resources, subconsultants, and agency coordination.
• Mentor staff.

• Maintain strong client relationships.
• Present to clients and stakeholders.
• Support business development through opportunity identification, capture strategy, proposals, interviews, and delivery of repeat work.
• Provide trusted advice and consistently deliver high-quality work that meets client needs.
• Collaborate with peers, share knowledge and best practices, and contribute expertise to strengthen the broader professional community and support ongoing professional development.
• Manage day-to-day relationships with contract service providers while working within an established contract management plan.
• Develop and validate engineering solutions, including PS&E packages, alternative analyses, and conceptual designs, in accordance with GDOT standards, applicable regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
• Contribute to the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards within own engineering discipline to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
• Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace.
• Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
• Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
• Develop and strengthen professional capabilities through internal and external training, maintain relevant professional accreditations, and stay abreast of emerging industry trends, technologies, standards, and best practices.
• Deliver projects while working within an established program management plan.
• Gather information and resources, draft and complete proposals, and fulfill all process requirements (in terms of deadlines, documentation, etc.) in response to bid solicitations, request for proposal, and request for tender to create the best chance of being awarded the contract.
