About The Position

We are currently searching for an experienced Transportation Project Manager to lead design projects in our Southeast Region in our Tampa, FL office. The ideal candidate will be responsible for coordination and oversight of roadway design projects and roadway design staff.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant industry experience
  • At least five (5) years of progressive responsibility within the industry
  • FDOT roadway design experience. Experience in FDOT design methods, plan preparation, standards, and specifications.
  • Proficient with MicroStation, experience with OpenRoads Designer
  • PE is required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • Valid driver’s license and a satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)

Responsibilities

  • Provide plan review and project management for Volkert clients in the Southeast region (FL-GA)
  • Responsible for organizing activities, schedules, and reporting in support of assigned projects
  • Prepare, issue and track project documentation such as contracts, change orders, client sign-off, etc. for all phases of assigned project work
  • Prepare correspondence and documents with clients, vendors and regulatory agencies as required
  • Prepare invoices and purchase orders; and communicate with outside resources when needed
  • Preparing and/or editing meeting minutes and presentations
  • Prepare project submittals and bidding activities
  • Lead a project team
  • Support our team and client by providing technical and administrative support
  • Market new and existing clients (FDOT D1, D7, FTE and local municipalities)
  • Interacting with clients and the public related to your work and understanding the context of the plans you develop
  • Lead the development of project designs and direct designers to successfully execute and deliver project work, while implementing client focused strategies
  • Aspiring to work in a team environment and participating in business development efforts and meetings with clients. Working as part of a team to deliver a range of transportation and civil design projects
  • Identifying and analyzing problems using reasoning to arrive at sound engineering conclusions
  • Adhering to company standards for quality assurance and quality control as defined in the quality manual
