About The Position

KPFF Seattle’s Transportation Team focuses on designing infrastructure that moves people and connects communities across the region. We work on a wide range of transit and transportation projects, including roadway and trail improvements, fish passage enhancements, and major infrastructure efforts throughout the Puget Sound and Pacific Northwest. Our projects are Community-Focused and emphasize pedestrian and bicycle safety, multimodal accessibility, ADA compliance, and context-sensitive solutions shaped by the community's needs. We collaborate closely with public agencies, transit authorities, contractors, and fellow engineers to deliver thoughtful solutions that improve mobility and public infrastructure. Located in downtown Seattle, our Transportation Engineering team is seeking a Transportation Project Engineer with a minimum of 4 years' experience. In this role you will support the full lifecycle of engineering projects, from early pursuits and proposal support through planning, design, permitting, and construction. You will work closely with Project Managers, clients, and multidisciplinary design teams to help ensure projects meet technical expectations and schedule milestones. You will contribute to corridor design, transit speed and reliability improvements, bicycle and pedestrian facilities, ADA upgrades, utility and stormwater designs in our region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in relevant civil/transportation design
  • AutoCAD Civil3D and/or Microstation familiarity
  • Experience and ability to prepare roadway/transportation design documents and specifications is required
  • Excellent teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven capability to work dynamically and effectively in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for developing design and project management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering principles to diverse projects, collaborating with teams to develop project specific solutions drawing on best practices in areas such as street improvements, transportation infrastructure, utility projects, and stormwater design.
  • Prepare design plans, reports, cost estimates, and technical analyses as part of multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Gain experience in ensuring regulatory compliance throughout the project lifecycle, including understanding regulations and permitting requirements.
  • Continue to advance AutoCad Civil 3D modeling skills.
  • Assist in managing project tasks, ensuring efficient coordination of timelines, budgets, and resources to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Foster strong client relationships by actively listening to client needs, providing clear communication, and delivering customized solutions that align with their objectives.
