About The Position

This is professional services work in overseeing and providing comprehensive planning, research, evaluation, and policy development services to the Department of Transportation. Responsibilities focus on coordinating and supervising the planning and administrative activities of a unit, or providing direction, facilitation, technical assistance and/or specialization. Supervision may be exercised over professional and technical personnel. This classification is distinguished from the next lower level by its responsibility for being the Department’s key point of contact to various large and multifaceted regional planning agencies and federal entities and providing them with direction, technical assistance and/or specialization, and support; or by its responsibility for coordinating highly specialized planning activities in a specific transportation field.

Requirements

  • An eight (8) year combination of education, training, and/or experience in planning and program development with specific background in specialized field as necessary (i.e. environmental planning, economic planning, historic preservation, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and providing comprehensive planning, research, evaluation, and policy development services to the Department of Transportation.
  • Coordinating and supervising the planning and administrative activities of a unit.
  • Providing direction, facilitation, technical assistance and/or specialization.
  • Supervising professional and technical personnel.
  • Serving as the Department’s key point of contact to various large and multifaceted regional planning agencies and federal entities.
  • Providing direction, technical assistance, and support to regional planning agencies and federal entities.
  • Coordinating highly specialized planning activities in a specific transportation field.
