As a Transportation Planner, you'll manage diverse planning projects for state DOTs, MPOs, and local governments while building client relationships and contributing to business development efforts. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science degree in Urban/City/Regional Planning, Geography (urban), or similar
  • 2+ years of experience in transportation planning required with a Master's degree; minimum 4+ years of experience required with a Bachelor's degree
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Urban/City/Regional Planning or related field preferred
  • experience with ArcGIS and Adobe Creative Suite software preferred
  • Adaptable and self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset as well as a proactive approach to problem solving
  • Certification by American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) or Certified Geographic Information Systems Professional (GISP) desired

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of transportation plans and studies, including multimodal long-range plans, thoroughfare plans, bicycle and pedestrian plans, transit studies, and safety plans for state DOTs, MPOs, local governments, and transit providers
  • Manage key projects and work closely with a team of planners helping clients deliver comprehensive/master plans, long-range plans, corridor and project level studies, active transportation plans, area plans, and safety plans
  • Develop client relationships and engage in business development efforts with support from our marketing team and office leaders
  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and internal/external project teams to identify issues, develop and analyze concepts, recommend solutions, prepare reports and other communication materials, and engage with the public
  • Assist in the development of transportation planning project proposals
  • Participate in delivering professional services related to all aspects of transportation planning to a wide variety of clients including state Departments of Transportation (DOTs), Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs), and local governments
