About The Position

As the Transportation Planner, you are responsible for planning, optimizing, and tendering PPG freight through the Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) Transportation Management System (TMS). You will ensure freight movements are executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in accordance with PPG service requirements while supporting customer satisfaction, manufacturing continuity, and supply chain performance. The schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM EDT), with on-call responsibilities approximately one weekend every one to two months. This is a remote opportunity, and you will report to the Transportation Planning Manager.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Finance, Economics, or a related field required.
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in outbound logistics operations, transportation, shipping, or warehousing
  • Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS); Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain proficiency in Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) to execute transportation planning activities.
  • Execute transportation planning activities for multiple USCA departments, including standard freight orders, return shipments, emergency/rescue shipments, and expedited freight requests.
  • Tender and manage ground transportation shipments while maintaining relationships with carriers, third-party logistics providers (3PLs), and over-the-road (OTR) transportation partners.
  • Manage transportation events within OTM resulting from order changes, production schedule adjustments, and other operational disruptions to ensure customer satisfaction and manufacturing continuity.
  • Drive routing guide compliance by maximizing use of preferred and low-cost carriers while maintaining required service levels and on-time delivery performance.
  • Investigate and resolve freight rating and billing discrepancies with carriers and the PPG Freight Payment Audit team.
  • Maintain transportation performance metrics, reporting, incident tracking, and operational analyses.
  • Provide strategic and economic analysis to support transportation sourcing, carrier negotiations, and network design decisions, including pre-bid and post-bid evaluations.
