About The Position

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Transportation Planner in Phoenix, AZ. This role involves conducting comprehensive research and data analysis to guide transportation decision-making and assess potential environmental impacts. The planner will interpret and evaluate findings from relevant studies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as client expectations. Responsibilities include analyzing diverse planning, land use, and transportation data for technical analyses, feasibility studies, and the development of comprehensive plans and transportation reports. The role also requires gathering and compiling technical and statistical data for reports and maps, supporting GIS mapping efforts, and analyzing socioeconomic data, land use, environmental impacts, travel behavior, and transportation demand concepts. Creating visual representations using graphical tools, assisting in research and technical analyses focused on land use and multimodal planning, and facilitating stakeholder and public engagement initiatives are also key aspects. The position may involve performing additional tasks as assigned, providing training to junior staff, and assisting with quality control and recruitment efforts. Telecommuting is permitted up to 3 days per week.

Requirements

Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Transportation Planning, Civil Engineering, or a related field of study
1 year of experience as a Transportation Planner, Urban Planner, or in a related occupation
Experience in Environmental and socioeconomic analysis, including Social Vulnerability Index Analysis and Multi-criteria analysis
Experience in GIS analysis and mapping
Experience in Survey analysis
Experience with GIS software, including ArcGIS Pro and QGIS, ArcGIS Online Apps
Experience with Data analysis tools, including MS Excel, SQL, SPSS, R, and Python
Experience with Graphic design through Adobe Creative Suites

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive research and data analysis to guide transportation decision-making and assess potential environmental impacts
Interpret and evaluate findings from relevant studies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as client expectations
Analyze diverse planning, land use, and transportation data, contributing to technical analyses, feasibility studies, and the development of comprehensive plans and transportation reports
Gather and compile various technical and statistical data to assist in preparing reports and maps related to census data, land use, and environmental factors
Support GIS mapping efforts and analyze socioeconomic data, land use, environmental impacts, travel behavior, and transportation demand concepts
Create visual representations using a range of graphical tools
Assist in research and technical analyses focused on land use and multimodal planning
Facilitate stakeholder and public engagement initiatives for agency projects
Perform additional tasks as assigned by senior staff or project managers
Provide training to junior staff and assisted in quality control and recruitment efforts
