About The Position

Kemira is seeking a Transportation Planner for its East Chicago, IN site. This role is responsible for scheduling truck shipments to and from customers and internal plants, monitoring terminal inventories, and coordinating with plant operations. The position involves supervising and managing company truck drivers, scheduling shipments with internal drivers and external carriers, monitoring driver hours of service, communicating with various stakeholders, and managing inventory levels at distribution centers. The role also includes preparing shipping documentation, coordinating shipment changes with customer service, managing equipment maintenance, and addressing shipment issues. Requirements

  • Good math skills
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Department of Transportation and/or TC Regulations
  • Thorough knowledge of hazardous materials regulations
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Competent computer skills

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage company truck drivers daily work activities.
  • Able to manage local and remote personnel.
  • Schedule internal truck drivers and external common carrier’s shipments to meet customer and supplier delivery and pick requirements.
  • Monitor driver’s hours of service to ensure that set work schedules can be completed within regulated hours of service requirements.
  • Communicate with drivers, suppliers, plants and others as required in monitoring keep-full and/or keep- empty customers.
  • Monitor inventories at distribution centers throughout the network.
  • Communicate and coordinate with plants and suppliers required demand and inventory balances.
  • Prepare shipping documentation for drivers and carriers.
  • Coordinate shipments changes with customer service.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance with maintenance department and vendors.
  • Address late/early/delayed shipments with customer service, sales and terminal manager as needed.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.
