This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. We are seeking a hardworking and safety-oriented individual to lead our Transport team to manage critical launch vehicle operations to include transportation, recovery and logistics. As Sr. Manager, Vehicle Transport Operations, you will be directly managing all aspects of a team of passionate and accomplished engineers and technicians collaborating directly with Launch Operations to meet launch cadence. You will maximize the team’s impact on all aspects of handling Vehicle stages, transport tooling, and critical crane lift operations supporting New Glenn Missions. This role requires collaboration with internal and external teams to manage and coordinate transport operations. This role is also responsible for the professional development of both transport and crane technicians and supporting leadership. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Requirements

  • Has background managing transport operations of critical flight hardware and oversized loads including personnel management to support all transport operations.
  • Experience with range safety and technical documents to comply with AFSPCMAN 91-710
  • 5+ years as a manager of a technical team
  • Strong project management, and team leadership
  • 8+ years of engineering drawings/sketches and can ensure that loads, loading methods, load securing and load transport comply with plan
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in conflict-resolution and an ability to bring a group to a decision
  • Demonstrated leadership in establishing a high performing safety culture
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in setting high standards of performance and holding teams accountable to include implementing continuous improvement to improve processes, methods and practices

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a safety oriented approach to transportation and crane operations, reducing risk of potential injuries and accidents
  • Be an ambassador of Blue Leadership Principles, focusing on demonstrating operational excellence while promoting teamwork, employee engagement, and good employee morale.
  • Coordinate planning of personnel and transportation equipment that ensures operational execution to include resource risks assessments, tooling requirements, equipment and rigging needs, and team scheduling across cranes and operators.
  • Establish critical internal and external stakeholder relationships across
  • Manage, direct and support assembly, disassembly, and set and configure Modular Trailers and SPMT (Sheuerle, KAMAG) in any configuration required for Stage Transportation between Blue Origin facilities.
  • Performs pre-mission dry runs to ensure functionality and operational readiness of transportation equipment and personnel
  • Lead capital, overhead, and labor budget planning and execution.
  • Work directly with engineers to plan and execute transportation operations, ground support equipment (GSE) functionality, certification, and periodic maintenance of lifting tools and associated support equipment.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies including but not limited to interviewing, hiring, training, planning and directing work
