We are looking for a compassionate Transportation Nursing Assistant.

Requirements

  • Active certification to practice as a Certified Nursing Assistant in the State of Arizona
  • Fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety
  • Current Negative Tb skin test (Mantoux skin test) within the last 6 months or a written statement from a physician, physician’s assistant or a registered nurse practitioner indicating freedom from tuberculosis, if in the past has had a positive skin test or tuberculosis
  • Valid state-issued driver's license
  • Principles, practices and techniques of para-professional nursing care, treatment and services appropriate to the work setting
  • State and agency laws and regulations governing para-professional nursing practices
  • Practices and procedures of using medical equipment in assigned duties
  • Practices and procedures established for the work environment
  • Practices and techniques applied in maintaining a safe, orderly, therapeutic and hygienic environment
  • Applying methods and techniques of para- professional nursing practices
  • Applying and interpreting State and agency laws and regulations governing para- professional nursing practices
  • Using and maintaining medical equipment
  • Applying methods and techniques in maintaining a safe, orderly, therapeutic and hygienic environment
  • Recording, maintaining, filing and retrieving medical records
  • Verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships
  • Learn, implement, and monitor Arizona Management System (AMS) methods

Responsibilities

  • Drives State-owned vehicle to transport Veterans/Members to various sites in the community for doctor and/ or laboratory appointments; delivers and picks up lab specimens, x-rays, prescriptions; maintains vehicle as prescribed.
  • May perform other related duties such as transporting, by foot, Veterans/Members to appointments outside the facility; transporting them to activities within the facility; assisting them in packing and moving their belongings or assigned furniture; and labeling their personal property.
  • May perform clerical duties (e.g. answering phones, filing, etc.) as needed. Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Responsible for the basic maintenance of vehicle, to include, but not limited to, checking for damages; leaks; fuel, oil and coolant levels; instrument panel; safety devices; lights (headlights, taillights, signals); brakes; steering; engine operation; unusual noises; and ensuring the cleanliness of the vehicle.
  • Participates in in-service training and staff development programs for regularly employed staff.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings.
  • Trains/orients new employees.
  • Actively involved in AMS processes such as Huddle Boards, Problem Solving, Job Breakdown Sheets, Success Tracking, and Standardized Work.
  • Participates fully in the QAPI process, our Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement program mandate by CMS, which incorporates AMS.
  • Assists the licensed nursing staff and Veterans/Members by performing a variety of care tasks.
  • Helps Veterans/Members with transfers, ambulation, eating, bathing, dressing, toileting, personal hygiene and other ADLs.
  • Turns and repositions Veterans/Members as directed.
  • Follows instructions to use simple procedures and devices to strengthen Veterans'/Members' limbs and maintain flexibility.
  • Assists nursing staff with simple medical procedures such as suppositories, enemas, treatments, post-surgical care and post-mortem care. Always utilizes universal precautions.
  • May use a variety of medical equipment (e.g. lifts, oxygen, Geri-chairs, braces, prosthetic devices, catheter care, etc.) in accordance with physician orders, licensed nurse direction and/or care plan.
  • Assists in monitoring physical and mental status of Veterans/Members by utilizing appropriate medical equipment and techniques to take vital signs (temperature, pulse, respirations); obtain urine, sputum or stool samples; and track input and output.
  • Weighs Veterans/Members per licensed nurse instruction.
