About The Position

Join WGM Group's dynamic Transportation engineering team and contribute to innovative, community-oriented transportation projects. In this senior leadership role as the Transportation Market Development Lead, you will drive the growth and strategic development of the transportation practice through client relationship management, business development, and successful project delivery. You will support the pursuit, planning, and execution of transportation infrastructure projects including roadways, highways, intersections, multimodal facilities, trails, and traffic systems for public and private sector clients. This is a part-time position requiring 20–24 hours per week, with the flexibility to be based out of either our Missoula or Kalispell office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering or related field.
  • 20+ years of job-related experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
  • Strong working relationships with state, local, and other government agencies.
  • Demonstrated track record of success in engineering planning, analysis and design.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles and practices with extensive experience with transportation and traffic engineering related projects and challenges.
  • Advanced knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead teams and mentor staff.
  • Experience working within the consulting industry.

Responsibilities

  • Lead business development initiatives and strategic market growth efforts for the Transportation practice.
  • Identify, track, and capture project opportunities aligned with the firm’s strategic growth objectives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with public agencies, municipalities, developers, industry partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Participate in and initiate new and existing client engagement through networking, conferences, industry events and presentations.
  • Partner across disciplines on business development strategies and project pursuits to build a business unit pipeline.
  • Serve as a senior ambassador for the Transportation practice, promoting technical excellence, responsiveness, and long-term client partnerships.
  • Coordinate effectively with clients, regulatory agencies, utility providers, subconsultants, and multidisciplinary internal teams.
  • Apply sound engineering judgment and best practices to assist in resolution of complex transportation engineering challenges.
  • Lead and oversee QA/QC processes for complex projects, ensuring compliance with contract and regulatory requirements.
  • Utilize risk management principles to address project delivery uncertainty.
  • Partner with the marketing team on proposals, interviews, and marketing materials.
