About The Position

The Transportation Manager is responsible for managing the execution, direction, and coordination of all transportation matters General Produce. This includes managing budgets, organizing schedules and routes, ensuring that vehicles are safe and meet legal requirements, and making sure that drivers are aware of their duties. Directs and coordinates all customer service delivery activities to obtain optimum use of equipment, facilities and personnel. The Transportation Manager Leads and supervises multiple layers in the department including transportation supervisor, routing and dispatch as well as a fleet of drivers consisting of leads, trainers, commercial and non-commercial drivers.

Responsibilities

• Conduct problem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
• Evaluate all routes for maximum efficiency, including creating and eliminating routes.
• Lead thorough and objective accident investigations related to company fleet.
• Develop root cause-analysis of accidents and follow up to ensure appropriate corrective measures and training are implemented.
• Coordinate with broker and insurance carrier any motor vehicle accident claims.
• Schedule drivers on a weekly basis, taking into consideration their driver licenses.
• Meet all legal requirements and ensure compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), Department of Transportation (DOT), California Air Resources Board (CARB), International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA), International Registration Plan (IRP), Unified Carrier Registration (UCR), Basic Inspection of Terminals (BIT) and others.
• Manage the procurement of trucks, tractors, automobiles, trailers and other equipment.
• Ensure proper maintenance of trucks, tractors, automobiles, trailers and equipment.
• Review and approve expenses for our fleet and related equipment.
• Supervise the Transportation department, Routing & Dispatch function.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
• Perform interviewing, hiring, and training of employees.
• Plan, assign and direct work.
• Appraise performance.
• Reward and discipline employees.
• Address complaints and resolve problems.
• Learn and utilize all office policies and procedures.
• Attend staff meetings and company events.
• Comply with all safety and security regulations and procedures.
• Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
