About The Position

The Transportation Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Hendrick Technical Solutions transportation fleet, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant movement of goods and services. This role requires expertise in managing CDL drivers, tractors, trailers, company owned vehicles, forklifts, as well as coordinating their logistics across multiple locations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • 4—6+ years in transportation management, logistics, or supply chain.
  • Experience with CDL drivers and heavy equipment preferred.
  • Proficiency in transportation management software and logistics systems.
  • Strong knowledge of federal/state transportation regulations and safety standards.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate teams; communicate effectively with drivers, staff, and customers.
  • Familiarity with fleet management systems.
  • Valid Driver’s License: Class A CDL
  • Must possess or be able to obtain Real ID identification within 30 days of hire
  • Must possess a current, valid passport for travel requirements
  • Based computer skills required
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Must have an ability to communicate effectively with others and serve as a team player to both departmental and organization team members.
  • The position requires regular and predictable attendance.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule is required.
  • Role is not remote and must regularly be performed in the assigned office location.
  • This role subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements and as such, U.S. Citizen, Permanent Resident or U.S. Person Status Required.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily maintenance, inspections, and repairs for tractors, trailers, company vehicles, and forklifts; ensure all equipment is roadworthy and compliant with safety standards.
  • Monitor driver qualifications, training, and performance; ensure adherence to safety regulations and legal requirements for interstate/intrastate shipping.
  • Develop and optimize daily/weekly routes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and meet delivery deadlines.
  • Inspect loads to prevent overloading; ensure compliance with federal, state, and company policies, including DOT regulations.
  • Manage and train a team of drivers, loaders, and maintenance staff; coordinate with suppliers, customers, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Prepare and manage transportation budgets; implement cost-saving strategies and efficiency improvements.
  • Maintain accurate logs of vehicle maintenance, driver hours, cargo, and operational activities.
  • Troubleshoot shipment issues, resolve logistics challenges, and collaborate with other departments to streamline operations.
