Transportation Maintenance Supervisor Keep our fleet moving safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. We are seeking a hands-on Transportation Maintenance Supervisor to lead our maintenance operations, support a team of skilled technicians, and drive continuous improvement across our fleet. This role is ideal for a leader who enjoys solving problems, developing people, and ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of fleet maintenance, transportation, or related operational experience.
  • Experience leading teams in a maintenance or shop environment.
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance practices, parts, tools, and shop operations.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn new software systems.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience with maintenance management systems (TMT or similar).
  • Understanding of Lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop maintenance technicians and shop staff.
  • Plan, prioritize, and oversee preventive maintenance and repair activities to support operational needs.
  • Monitor maintenance quality through regular audits, inspections, and review of repair orders.
  • Manage parts inventory and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective procurement and equipment uptime.
  • Analyze maintenance costs and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, productivity, and service levels.
  • Foster a strong safety culture through audits, training, shop inspections, and safe work practices.
  • Collaborate with drivers, operations teams, and vendors to address maintenance concerns and improve fleet performance.
  • Support budget planning and help manage maintenance expenses.
  • Drive Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives to eliminate waste, improve processes, and enhance operational performance.
  • Evaluate repair work to determine whether it should be completed in-house or outsourced.
