Transportation & Logistics Coordinator
About The Position
The Transportation & Logistics Coordinator supports shipping operations for the Brookhaven Dry Ice Plant by coordinating freight shipments, working directly with trucking companies, and monitoring transportation costs and efficiency. This role works closely with the Plant Manager and leadership to ensure shipments move on time, routes are optimized, and freight pricing remains competitive. The position tracks shipment performance, analyzes freight costs, and helps identify opportunities to improve transportation efficiency across the network. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in transportation operations, freight cost analysis, and logistics coordination within a growing multi-plant operation.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in logistics, dispatch, transportation coordination, or a similar operational role
- Strong Excel and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with freight carriers or transportation providers preferred
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule freight shipments with approved transportation carriers
- Track shipments and communicate delivery updates with plant staff and receiving branches
- Review freight quotes and invoices for accuracy
- Assist with negotiating freight pricing under the direction of transportation leadership
- Select carriers from an approved list and help identify additional qualified transportation providers
- Analyze freight costs and identify opportunities to reduce transportation expenses
- Use Excel to monitor shipment data, transportation trends, and cost performance
- Enter shipment details, documentation, and Proof of Delivery (POD) into NetSuite within required timelines (typically within 24 hours of delivery)
- Identify and resolve shipping or routing issues quickly to minimize delays
