About The Position

VHB’s Charlotte, North Carolina office is seeking a Transportation Intern for Summer 2027. The intern will support transportation engineering and roadway design work, including engineering calculations and analysis, traffic data compilation and review, report preparation, and roadway plan development. The role uses software such as Synchro, MicroStation, and ArcGIS Pro. VHB does not provide housing for internships.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree in engineering.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, with attention to detail.
• Team-oriented, with the ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Assist with engineering calculations, analysis, and report preparation.
• Compile and analyze annual traffic counts for various counties.
• Review traffic reports for state and local counties.
• Use software such as Synchro, MicroStation, and ArcGIS Pro.
• Assist the roadway design team with plan development.
