About The Position

Foster CM Group is seeking a qualified Transportation Inspector with experience in roadway lighting systems, traffic signals, and transportation infrastructure projects to support municipal and transportation improvement projects throughout the Dallas–Fort Worth area. The ideal candidate will have hands-on inspection experience with transportation construction activities, utility coordination, signalization systems, roadway illumination, and contractor compliance verification. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with project teams, contractors, and agency representatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of transportation inspection experience
  • Experience with traffic signal and roadway lighting projects
  • Knowledge of TxDOT, municipal, or transportation agency standards
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic reporting systems
  • Valid Texas driver's license with acceptable driving record
  • Possession of a valid state of residence driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Daily travel to and from construction sites, generally within 100 miles from the home office is expected.
  • Short term, out of town, assignments may be required.
  • Long term, out of town, assignments may be required, with advance notice of planned dates.
  • May be required to work protracted and irregular hours to meet client's needs, including nights, overtime and weekends.

  • Background checks may include, SSN/SIN validation, education verification, employment verification, criminal background check, fingerprint verification, and/or drug test.

Nice To Haves

  • IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector certification
  • Experience with DART, municipal, or aviation transportation projects
  • Electrical or utility inspection experience
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification

Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections for transportation construction projects
  • Inspect installation of: Traffic signals, Roadway lighting, Conduit systems, Fiber optic systems, Electrical pull boxes and foundations, Signal poles and mast arms
  • Verify contractor work complies with: Approved plans and specifications, MUTCD standards, Local and state transportation requirements
  • Document daily inspection reports and project activities
  • Coordinate with contractors, utility providers, and project stakeholders
  • Review traffic control implementation and safety compliance
  • Monitor construction schedules and identify potential issues
  • Assist with punch list development and project closeout
  • Attend project meetings and provide status updates
