About The Position

IMEG is hiring a Transportation Engineering New Graduate in Austin, TX. This entry-level role offers hands-on design, analysis, and project execution experience, with mentorship, training, and opportunities to grow your expertise from day one. You will work closely with experienced engineers and consultants to help improve complex transportation systems, enhance traffic safety, and optimize infrastructure for public and private sector clients. In this role, you will support project planning, scheduling, and documentation, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and help keep work aligned with project goals, client expectations, and monetary budgets. You will contribute to municipal and transportation work in Central Texas while helping deliver resilient, environmentally responsible infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Basic skills or knowledge with AutoCAD Civil 3D software and the ability to complete AutoCAD training sessions as quickly as possible
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) License preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic transportation engineering calculations, including traffic volumes, signal timing, trip generation, and pavement quantities, under supervision
  • Assist in transportation infrastructure including roadways, intersections, signage, and striping plans under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Assist with grading for roadways, intersections, and site access
  • Interact with clients to understand their needs, gather project requirements, and communicate technical information effectively
  • Build and maintain client relationships through professional communication
  • Work as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects and assist in project planning and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives
  • Assist with documenting design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress
  • Analyze low to medium complexity engineering tasks and collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutions
  • Participate in quality control processes to help ensure engineering designs and solutions meet quality standards, industry standards, and client requirements
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in civil engineering, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts
  • Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance in all aspects of engineering work and apply state and local design criteria to specific project needs
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including other engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals
