About The Position

Internships at Clark Dietz offer a valuable opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world engineering projects through hands-on experience. Interns will also participate in group activities during the summer to gain insights into the engineering profession, technical areas, and career paths. As a Transportation Engineer Intern, you will collaborate with a team on various municipal infrastructure and roadway projects, both in the field and through design work. This role involves assisting with design, plan development, specifications, site surveying, documenting construction activities, calculating quantities, and verifying measurements and layouts on project sites. Our transportation projects encompass a range of linear features along transportation corridors, including traffic, pavement, signals and lighting, structures, storm systems, drainage, watermain transmission, and sanitary systems.

Requirements

Declared major in Civil Engineering with an interest in Transportation
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and documents
Ability to research specifications and codes as needed
Ability to perform basic calculations to compute quantities, verify measurements, and organize and analyze data
Good organizational skills with strong attention to detail
Willingness to perform a variety of tasks with guidance from other staff
Good communication and listening skills
Ability to ask insightful questions and learn and apply new skills
Proficiency with MS Office (Excel & Word)
Valid driver’s license and vehicle for commuting to project sites
