About The Position

Join IMEG as a Transportation Engineering New Grad in Dallas, TX, and help design the infrastructure that keeps communities moving safely and efficiently. From intersections and roadways to traffic control systems, you’ll contribute to projects that improve mobility, enhance safety, and optimize transportation networks for both public and private clients. Using tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D and working alongside experienced engineers, you’ll gain hands-on experience in design, analysis, and project execution while learning the fundamentals of transportation engineering. This entry-level role offers mentorship, technical training, and opportunities to grow your expertise from day one.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
  • Basic skills or knowledge with AutoCAD Civil 3D software and the ability to complete AutoCAD training sessions as quickly as possible
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges
  • Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 5% with occasional overnight stays

Nice To Haves

  • Prior internship experience in the building design consulting industry preferred
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) License preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic calculations such as traffic volumes, signal timing, trip generation, and pavement quantities under supervision
  • Assist with transportation infrastructure design, including roadways, intersections, signage, striping, and grading, under senior guidance
  • Gather client requirements, communicate technical details, and maintain professional relationships
  • Support project planning, scheduling, and execution to meet deadlines
  • Document design decisions, relay client instructions, and track progress
  • Analyze low- to medium-complexity tasks and propose solutions with senior input
  • Ensure quality compliance with IMEG, industry, and client standards
  • Stay current on civil engineering trends and contribute to R&D efforts
  • Prioritize safety, ensure regulatory compliance, and apply state/local design criteria
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated project solutions
