About The Position

As a Transportation Engineering Assistant Project Manager for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Pittsburgh, PA office, you will support the growth of the firm in the transportation industry while working with project teams to deliver roadway design solutions for public sector, commercial, and industrial clients. You will take part in a wide range of transportation projects, contributing to geometric studies, roadway alignments, drainage design, construction staging, and the preparation of engineering reports, plans, and cost estimates. From preliminary concepts through final design and construction support, you will play an active role in developing transportation improvements that serve local communities and regional infrastructure needs. Your work will include preparing design calculations, producing construction plans, coordinating project tasks, and supporting quality project submittals for highway and local road projects. You will work closely with Project Managers and Principals to plan and execute projects, manage task schedules and budgets, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to address project-specific needs. You will also mentor junior staff, assist with project documentation and contract administration, and support business development efforts by helping identify new opportunities and contributing to proposal and interview materials. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required
  • 4+ years of relevant experience required
  • Ability and desire to mentor junior staff
  • EIT certification and desire to obtain P.E. license
  • Public sector transportation experience required
  • Proficiency in roadway grading and layout design using software such as Bentley Microstation, Bentley OpenRoads Designer, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • Experience in roadway geometric design, pavement design, construction document preparation, and right-of-way plan preparation

Nice To Haves

  • Some task lead or project management experience preferred
  • Experience in proposal preparation and engineering fee estimating a plus
  • Experience in drainage, hydrology and hydraulics, stormwater management, erosion and sediment pollution control, and utilities a plus
  • Experience in traffic engineering, streetscape design or safety engineering a plus
