About The Position

AECOM is seeking Entry Level Transportation Engineers to be based in Chicago, Illinois. This position is expected to begin in May 2027. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Builds analytic and design skills. Conducts engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Creates designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Follows internal quality control processes. Collects and analyzes data under the supervision of an experienced engineer. Uses computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems. Performs work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • Effectively communicate (written & oral) with peers and understand engineering requirements.
  • Willing to perform a variety of tasks and work both independently and as part of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • Engineer-in-Training or ability to obtain EIT (FE) registration within 6 months is preferred.
  • Experience in Civil Engineering design is preferred.
  • Experience w/ multiple elements of highway design, including but not limited to the following are desirable: Highway design (alignments/geometry, roadside design, pavement, traffic control, etc.)
  • Railroad and track design
  • Plan and contract document preparation
  • Drainage design, stormwater management and permitting
  • Utilities
  • Familiarity w/ MicroStation is desirable. Experience w/Geopak a plus.
