About The Position

DGL is seeking a senior-level Transportation Engineer to enhance its Transportation - Bridge Department. The role involves completing all aspects of bridge design and inspection services as needed, including structural design, detailing, plan and specification production, bridge type studies, and load rating analysis. The engineer will also assist with oversight of entry-level engineers, work-task budgeting, construction-phase design assistance, and coordination with engineers and surveyors. The position is full-time and non-exempt, and reports to the Project Manager and Director of Structures (Transportation). The posting specifies 8–15 years of experience in bridge design engineering.

Requirements

• 8–15 years of experience in bridge design engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
• Experience with applicable software, including OpenBridge/MicroStation, AutoCAD, LEAP Bridge, AASHTOWare BrR, AssetWise, HEC-RAS, and Microsoft Office; willingness to learn additional software and programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven success delivering high-quality project submittals.
• Well-organized, with a professional demeanor and ability to communicate effectively with people of varied backgrounds.
• Valid driver’s license and favorable driving record.
• Flexibility to travel as needed for field measurements.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration is preferred, or Engineering Intern (E.I.) certification with the ability to obtain a PE license within six months.

Responsibilities

• Prepare structural designs and details for bridges and culverts.
• Produce plans and specifications for bridges and culverts.
• Prepare bridge type studies and similar reports.
• Perform load rating analyses of bridges.
• Assist with oversight of entry-level engineers and budgeting work tasks.
• Provide design assistance during construction, including responding to contractor questions and reviewing shop drawings.
• Coordinate project requirements with other engineers and surveyors.
• Provide civil engineering drafting support for site, roadway, and traffic work as necessary.
• Obtain and maintain safety certifications and client pre-qualifications, including DOT and Turnpike requirements.
• Apply design standards, standard drawings, and CAD requirements for DOT and local agencies.
• Participate in periodic industry events and related marketing activities.
