About The Position

Olsson’s Traffic/Technology team offers comprehensive traffic services, including traffic operation studies, pedestrian circulation studies, and intersection improvement/design projects. We specialize in traffic signal design and timing, pavement marking design, street lighting analysis, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS). Our expertise also extends to complex projects like citywide safety studies and signal system improvements. Through our work, we enhance transportation infrastructure and positively impact the communities we serve. As a Traffic Engineer, you will perform traffic studies, prepare design plans, and contribute to the delivery of a wide variety of transportation projects. You will design traffic signals, roundabouts, pavement markings, signing, temporary traffic control, and facilities for vehicular and multimodal users. Additionally, you will evaluate the safety and operational performance of transportation systems, analyze traffic data, and develop recommendations that enhance mobility and roadway safety. In this role, you will collaborate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams while taking ownership of project tasks and technical analyses. You will apply sound engineering judgment, contribute to design decisions, and continue developing your expertise in traffic operations, safety, transportation technology, and Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 2-6 years of traffic and/or transportation engineering experience
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and possession of an Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification required
  • Experience with AutoCAD (or similar software)

Nice To Haves

  • Synchro experience preferred, but not required
  • OSP Fiber experience preferred, but not required
  • Skilled in using Excel for data analysis and complex formula creation preferred
