By joining our Traffic Engineering and Permits Section as a Transportation Engineering Supervisor in Fayette County, you’ll have the opportunity to oversee the activities of professional and technical personnel in the planning, design, construction and maintenance of traffic devices in District 7.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Professional Engineer.
  • Consulting with contractors, material suppliers, consultants, local officials, departmental engineers, and county maintenance and special operations crews about technical and operational issues.
  • Experience working in the Traffic Engineering field.
  • Determining ways and means for proper expenditure of funds for the District Traffic program.
  • Must have two years of engineering experience in addition to that required for licensure as a professional engineer.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification.
  • Must be licensed as a professional engineer by the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors OR must be licensed in another state with the ability to obtain a Professional Engineering license from the Kentucky Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors within the employee's initial six month probationary period.
  • Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

Nice To Haves

  • A master's degree in engineering will substitute for one year of the required experience. Graduate work in engineering beyond a master's degree will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the activities of employees of an engineering program.
  • Develops, reviews, and maintains all traffic signals and roadway lighting in the district.
  • Correspond with developers, consultants, local government, and utility owners, on a wide range of traffic topics.
  • Review and analyze data from others.
