About The Position

This position serves as the Statewide Project Scheduling Engineer, providing guidance and evaluation of the statewide program for past, current, and future assessments. The role acts as the technical expert for project scheduling, continuously evaluating the global network of tasks (e.g., planning, developing plans and contracts) based on feedback from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to manage and adapt processes for statewide scheduling alignment. Responsibilities include generating and assessing data in Planisware, reporting on findings, trends, and patterns in project schedules to various groups, and forecasting/interpolating data to recommend improvements. The position also assists with monthly reports, offers troubleshooting support, and collaborates with teams to enhance data quality and reporting/dashboarding methods. Furthermore, this role serves as the business product owner for Planisware, the Department’s enterprise Scheduling software, acting as the technical resource and software project manager. This involves managing project schedules for each "work type," determining engineering theory, and leading collaborations between internal teams and vendors to ensure successful outcomes, adherence to engineering standards, and compliance with state and federal regulations, which is critical for federal funding.

Requirements

  • Possession of a bachelor of science degree in engineering.
  • Four years of professional experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineer.
  • Two years of experience equivalent to a Transportation Engineer P11 or one year equivalent to a Transportation Engineer 12 or Transportation Engineer Licensed 12.
  • Possession of a registered professional engineering license as required by the State of Michigan.
  • Attach a copy of official college transcripts and/or foreign degree evaluation (if applicable).
  • Academic credentials must be evaluated or converted into U.S. educational equivalents if foreign degrees are possessed.
  • Do not use artificial intelligence (AI) software in any area of the selection process.
