Transportation Engineer-in-Training
About The Position
This opportunity is an entry-level transportation engineering position within the Transportation Practice of KCI Technologies. The role involves assisting in the development of construction plans for transportation projects under the supervision of a senior project engineer or project manager. Duties include performing engineering calculations, interpreting engineering drawings and specifications, assisting with proposal preparation, designing and preparing construction drawings, coordinating work with other engineering disciplines, performing drafting/CADD work, and developing engineering reports, quantities, and construction cost estimates.
Requirements
- 0-2 Years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-Accredited Program
- General knowledge of required design software (MicroStation, AutoCAD, Revit)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Good communication and technical writing skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to think critically.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Ability to maintain required certifications
Nice To Haves
- Internship or other relevant experience outside of the classroom.
- General Knowledge and/or experience with OpenRoads Designer
- Familiarity with AASHTO, MUTCD, and NACTO standards
- EIT certification Desired
- Previous internships or work experience in the Engineering field.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of multiple construction plans for transportation projects under the supervision of a senior project engineer or project manager.
- Perform work involving conventional types of plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment.
- Perform engineering calculations, interpretation of engineering drawings and specifications, and assistance with proposal preparation.
- Design and preparation of construction drawings for various transportation projects.
- Help to coordinate work of multiple engineering disciplines, as well as performing drafting/CADD work for the project.
- Develop engineering reports, quantities and Construction Cost Estimates.
