About The Position

CIMA+ is seeking a motivated Transportation Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join our Edmonton Transportation team. Working under the guidance of experienced Project Managers and Professional Engineers, you will participate in all phases of project delivery, including planning, preliminary engineering, detailed design, tender preparation, construction support, and contract administration. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop both technical and professional skills while contributing to transportation projects throughout Alberta.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Registered (or eligible for registration) as an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with APEGA.
  • Strong interest in transportation and highway engineering.
  • Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's licence and willingness to travel occasionally throughout Alberta.

  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Previous consulting, co-op, or construction experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning and design of highways, roadways, intersections, roundabouts, and municipal transportation infrastructure.
  • Prepare engineering calculations, design drawings, quantities, cost estimates, and technical specifications.
  • Develop Civil 3D models, plan/profile drawings, cross sections, and construction documents.
  • Participate in traffic, drainage, geometric design, and transportation engineering studies.
  • Assist in preparing technical reports, memoranda, presentations, and proposals.
  • Coordinate with internal disciplines including drainage, environmental, structures, survey, utilities, traffic, and construction services.
  • Participate in field investigations, site inspections, construction reviews, and data collection.
  • Support tendering activities and provide engineering support during construction.
  • Work directly with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
  • Contribute to project scheduling, quality management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
