About The Position

This position is for a Transportation Engineer 3 in the Design department at the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT). The role involves independently developing comprehensive transportation construction plans using design software tools and collaborating within a supportive design team. A full position description will be provided at the time of interview. This position is Overtime Exempt per FLSA standards and has been designated as a Career Professional position per the Ohio Revised Code 5501.20. All candidates must be authorized to work in the United States, and sponsorship for an employment visa is not available. All bargaining unit and exempt hires to ODOT must serve a 1-year probationary period. All exempt promotions are required to serve a 6-month probationary period.

Requirements

Licensed as a registered professional engineer by the Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors.
12 months of experience as a group or project leader providing work direction and training to engineering technicians and/or lower-level engineers OR 12 months of experience in conducting engineering-related research (only applies to staff specialist positions).
If assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to and inspect project sites, must possess a valid driver's license.
OR Licensed as a registered professional engineer by the Ohio State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers & Surveyors.
12 months of experience as a Transportation Engineer 2, 85642.
If assigned to operate a state vehicle to travel to and inspect project sites, must possess a valid driver's license.
OR equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment may be substituted for the experience required, but not for the mandated registration.
