About The Position

The Transportation Driver is responsible for scheduling and confirming patient appointments, reviewing patient information to determine needs, and implementing customer-service standards. This role involves resolving problems, completing transportation system improvements, and informing family members of appointments upon request. The driver will post appointments daily for staff and patients, answer questions regarding appointments, and enter orders for appointments and transportation. Additionally, they will retrieve and send diagnostic labs needed for appointments, determine the best routes, and ensure necessary equipment is loaded and unloaded. Maintaining equipment, providing and troubleshooting medical equipment for transport, and ensuring a safe, secure, and healthy work environment are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, walk, stoop and crouch repetitively.
  • Must be able to push a minimum of 200lbs for a long distance.
  • Must be able to lift bulky heavy items up to 100lbs.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver license.
  • Must possess and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Must be able to speak, read and write the English language.
  • 1 year experience required.
  • Clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules and confirms patient appointments.
  • Reviews patient information prior to appointment to determine patient needs.
  • Verifies with nursing staff if there are questions.
  • Implements customer-service standards; resolves problems; completes and determines patient transportation system improvements.
  • Informs family members of patient appointments upon request.
  • Posts appointments daily for staff and patients at least one day prior to appointment.
  • Is available to answer questions regarding the appointment.
  • Enters orders for appointment and transportation and retrieves/sends diagnostic labs needed for appointment.
  • Determines best route to and from appointments prior to the departing time, along with equipment required to load and unload patient.
  • Keeps equipment operating by establishing and enforcing operating and preventive maintenance rules; arranging for repairs, oil changes, etc.
  • Provides and troubleshoots medical equipment needed for a patient transport, such as, but not limited to; O2, wheelchairs, gurneys, IVs.
  • Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
