POSITION SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Director of Nursing Operations or House Supervisor, this individual is responsible for driving patients to and from Northwest Healthcare System, providing transportation services from Free Standing Emergency Departments, and transporting patients who are an obstacle to throughput due to not having a ride home. This individual is also responsible for ensuring nursing units have an adequate supply of intravenous (IV) pumps and channels, and other assigned equipment, including for both Free Standing Emergency Departments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Current valid Texas Driver’s License.
  • A Driver’s Record validation is required annually for all authorized drivers of owned or leased vehicles and for all candidates who are required to utilize their personal vehicle during the course of authorized company business.
  • Current Basic Life Support.
  • Authorized drivers cannot have any of the following: A State record indicating that the driver’s license is currently revoked, suspended or that the status is not valid and current; Multiple violations for driving without insurance; Two at-fault accidents during the past three (3) years; Three moving violations during the last three (3) years; and, Driving under the influence (DUI) or driving while intoxicated (DWI) convictions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides transportation for NWTHS employees, students, faculty, and physicians by driving the designated campus shuttle routes.
  • Responsible for shuttle maintenance including cleaning and fuel supply.
  • Completes all necessary shuttle usage summaries as required.
