About The Position

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transportation Drainage Engineer to join their team in Salt Lake City / Murray, Utah. This role involves planning, design, and implementation of drainage systems for various transportation infrastructure projects. The position will support Design Bid Build, Design Build, and Progressive Design Build projects for UDOT and other projects in their west region. A current UDOT project involves the I-84 & US-89 interchange, a complex conversion of an existing interchange to a flagship project. The role will involve designing and analyzing drainage systems for highways, roads, and other transportation infrastructure, developing innovative and cost-effective drainage solutions, conducting hydraulic and hydrologic analyses using advanced modeling software, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, prepare technical reports, manage project budgets and schedules, provide technical guidance to junior staff, and represent the organization in client meetings and public presentations. Staying current with industry trends and best practices is also expected.

Requirements

  • BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience with design software including MicroStation and OpenRoads
  • Familiar with MS Office software (Excel, Word, Project)
  • Work within hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (e.g. HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SRH-2D, StormCAD, Storm and Sanitary), and plan set production design software (e.g. AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, Inroads, Open Roads)

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering + 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Experience designing highway/roadway systems in UT, CO, NM, or AZ
  • Previous design experience on transportation projects including Schematic Development and Preparation of Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E)
  • Experience with Business Development/Client Relations

Responsibilities

  • Design and analysis of drainage systems for highways, roads, and other transportation infrastructure projects
