About The Position

Humboldt Senior Resource Center is looking for a substitute Transportation Dispatcher. The department operates Monday through Friday 7:30 am to 5:30 pm, and this position would help cover shifts within that timeframe, as needed. The Transportation Dispatcher is responsible for day-to-day organization, routing, and problem solving for transportation of participants to and from HSRC day centers, HSRC clinic appointments, outside medical appointments, and other program approved transportation and/ or delivery requests.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Requires clearance of a DOJ and FBI criminal history background check.
  • Pre-employment physical, and PPD skin test (TB screening).

  • Physical abilities sufficient to move between different staff work areas, communicate with co-workers and the public, operate a computer, produce reports, and talk on the telephone.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year scheduling and/or routing experience preferred.
  • One (1) year experience working with elderly or frail individuals preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT & FMSCA Compliance preferred.
  • COVID-19 and Influenza (flu) vaccines preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes program specific EHR and scheduling software to access transportation requests and document transportation related information.
  • Directs and monitors daily requests, schedules drivers, and assigns vehicles to ensure daily coverage of all routes and appointments.
  • Coordinates transportation services for participants to and from scheduled destinations by utilizing approved routing software.
  • Coordinates daily delivery services including but not limited to meals, durable medical equipment, samples, and medications.
  • Coordinates and schedules outside transportation vendors by facilitating information and back-up service when needed.
  • Maintains accurate computer dispatch and appointment records in routing software to ensure smooth and accurate communication with Transportation Drivers.
  • Ensures a smooth delivery of service by problem solving and coordination with representatives of agency programs, medical offices, caregivers, and participants.
  • Collaborates and proactively communicates across departments regarding any event that may disrupt services.
  • Communicates all relevant details of driving assignments to drivers to ensure proper execution of services, including informing drivers of inclement weather, road construction, and other possible hazards.
  • Assists drivers with routing directions and direct drivers to perform additional services when required.
  • Responds to urgent calls and facilitates response to urgent driver needs.
  • Assigns replacement busses in coordination with Transportation Supervisor when there is a problem enroute.
  • Escalates unresolved issues to management as appropriate.
  • Informing of any issues out of the ordinary that may need additional assistance.
  • Maintains periodic contact with personnel to ensure completion of assigned duties.
  • Informs appropriate agency programs of changes in participant conditions.
  • Provides support for the Transportation Coordinator as needed.
  • Participates in program-level meetings as requested.
  • Follows agency and programmatic policies for incidents, accidents, grievances, and other reportable events.
  • Acts in a manner consistent with agency values.
  • Other duties as assigned.
