This role advocates for and upholds the design intent of stations, transit facilities, and urban infrastructure, ensuring seamless translation into coordinated, high-quality construction documentation. The Design Professional prepares and modifies architectural documents, elevations, sections, details, etc., utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM). They develop solutions to technical and design problems following established standards and incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects. With direction from the project designer or more senior design professionals, they develop, modify, and/or review drawings, ensuring the incorporation of design intent. This role works closely with the design team to complete projects on aggressive schedules, assists in developing project scope, plan, and services during the contract process, and translates planning concepts into comprehensible terms for clients, designers, and project team members. The Design Professional develops a comprehensive understanding of clients’ program requirements and standards and policies for completion. They prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings, build models for client/project team review, compile data, and perform elementary design computations. They perform product research and assist project designers and project architects with materials selection and system research. The role ensures HOK document standards are met and archives documents appropriately. They may assist the team in construction administration document management and may mentor and direct the work of intern staff. Additionally, they take personal responsibility for fostering a green workplace through sustainable work practices and foster a commitment to external and internal client service.
