About The Position

Egis focuses on designing and delivering innovative transportation, aviation, rail, transit, water, structural, environmental, and infrastructure solutions. This role supports the Texas market and is based in Houston, Austin, or San Antonio. The Transportation Design Lead will lead the performance and growth of the Texas transportation design team, focusing on client service, business development, and project delivery. This includes building relationships and securing work with Texas agencies at local, regional, and state levels (TxDOT, MPOs, cities, counties, and regional authorities). Responsibilities include overseeing design staff, managing resources and budgets, providing technical and project oversight, supporting go/no-go decisions on pursuits, and developing and implementing business plans for regional growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
  • Professional Civil Engineering License in Texas required
  • Minimum of 15 years of diversified experience in civil engineering, with specific expertise in transportation infrastructure
  • Led and delivered significant projects of scale through effective team and budget management.
  • Experienced in relevant facets of planning, design and construction services for roads, highways and bridges.

  • Demonstrated track record of positioning and scaling a business and team for growth.
  • Ensures effective governance, at the project and business level.
  • Demonstrated track record of building strong relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the performance and growth of the Texas transportation design team.
  • Lead client service, business development, and project delivery in the Texas market.
  • Build relationships and secure work with Texas agencies at the local, regional, and state levels (TxDOT, MPOs, cities, counties, and regional authorities).
  • Oversee design staff, manage resources and budgets.
  • Provide technical and project oversight.

  • Represent the firm at client meetings, industry events, and business functions.
  • Develop relationships with key client decision-makers and leaders from teaming partner firms.
  • Take active leadership roles in professional organizations.
  • Support the development of strategic teaming partnerships.
  • Schedule and lead periodic meetings with key client personnel.
  • Support the development of office-level action plans.
