About The Position

This is a Transportation Crew Leader Position out of the Turner paint/ Maintenance location. This position will serve on a Turner based Striping/Stencil Crew in summer, leading crew members in painted pavement marking duties, responsible for overseeing and ensuring the accomplishment of assigned duties and tasks as directed by the TCS and the winter responsibilities of this position will be based In Turner maintenance for Region 3, transportation worker duties and could include snow-fighter duties.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Required to work at a higher class as necessary and in accordance with required licenses and/or certification
  • State-paid Medical examination that includes: a drug test
  • Department’s Respirator fit test
  • Class C State of Maine license by first day of employment
  • Shall obtain and retain a valid Class B State of Maine license during the initial six-month probationary period
  • Ability to become a certified snow fighter within 12 months
  • Ability to obtain flagger certification within a specified amount of time
  • Under federal law, only U.S. Citizens, Permanent Residents, or H-2A, H-2B, or E-2 visa holders will be eligible for new or renewed CDLs

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and directs the accomplishment of work activities
  • trains and coaches assigned crew members
  • ensures projects are completed within specifications and time frames and in accordance with safety and environmental policies, rules, and regulations
  • monitors use and maintenance of vehicles, equipment and tools
  • inspects materials
  • meets with citizens, utility officials and others to resolve issues within a work area
  • prepares and submits work records and time sheets
  • communicates daily with the TCS and provides information on personnel issues for employee performance evaluations
  • provides a backup for all TCS responsibilities in the event of TCS absence
